WARNER MUSIC GROUP
Visual Design & Print production

Design Brief
I worked as a freelance designer for Warner Music Hong Kong, focusing on motion graphics for the Timeless Music YouTube channel. I also contributed to the anniversary repackage of Khalil Fong’s popular CD 15. Despite limited resources, I enjoyed bringing creative energy to this project for a renowned artist, producing engaging visuals that complemented the music and promotion.

Original CD Cover
Khalil Fong
Khalil Fong is a renowned Hong Kong-based singer-songwriter known for his soulful voice, smooth R&B style, and thoughtful lyrics. His album 15 celebrates his musical journey and artistic achievements over the years. The album cover features a striking portrait of Khalil wearing his signature glasses, with his face partially covered by his hand, capturing both his signature style and a sense of introspective artistry.
15 focused more on highlighting the singer himself, rather than a conceptual theme, which was typical for Asian albums at the time.

Print Production
For Khalil’s album, I paired a minimal black-and-white portrait with hand-drawn typography to reflect his understated, soulful style. The clean layout and restrained color palette let the music take center stage.

Interior Layout

The inside design features black-and-white studio photos, focusing on the atmosphere rather than Khalil himself. Layered tones of black and gray, paired with concrete textures, create depth within the monochromatic scheme. I added rhythmic lines and a silhouette of Khalil walking across the CD surface—when played, it gives the illusion of him in motion.

Print Production
Interior Layout
A striking top-view shot of Khalil playing guitar was repurposed for a concert poster rather than the album cover, as its bold energy suited live performance promotion. Enlarged as a full-background image, the poster incorporates one of his quotes to connect his words with his music visually.
Creative Challenge
The key challenge was to craft visuals that felt timeless and concept-driven without overshadowing Khalil himself. I also needed to ensure the design worked seamlessly across multiple formats—CD packaging, booklet, and a large-scale promotional poster—while maintaining a consistent aesthetic.
I use minimalist typography to reflect Khalil’s mellow R&B style. Matte-coated paper was chosen to soften the overall feel, while the poster’s bold composition provided contrast for promotional impact.
Playlist of Khalil Fong

Beyond physical media, I extended the visual concept to Khalil’s YouTube channel. I designed and produced the official playlist video for the album, which included not only tracks from the new release but also his most popular earlier songs. The video’s aesthetic matched the black-and-white branding of the album, ensuring a consistent artist identity across platforms.
